About Us
Qualified Staff
All of our staff are qualified Childcare Practitioners with NVQ qualifications in levels 2,3,4 and 6. As a nursery, we are always evolving and staff attend regular, relevant study days which we implement into our daily practices. As well as attending outside courses we also have an “in house” training matrix which is led by Vanessa who is trained as an Early Years Tutor. Collectively we have over 150 years of childcare experience. Our staff ages range from 23 years old to 57 years young.
Every member of staff is qualified in Paediatric first aid.
Health & Nutrition
We have a qualified cook who prepares and serves healthy and nutritious meals daily with a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables. All the meals are nutritionally balanced and varied so that the children are not having the same meals each week or on the same days. We also provide a vegetarian option daily and are happy to cater for all dietary requirements. We pride ourselves on the nursery meals and have even won an ORGANIX award for our meals and for sourcing quality food.
Partnership With Parents
Both Vanessa and Fiona are parents themselves and understand the balance between work, home and nursery. Therefore, the nursery strives to support all children and their families and offers a flexible approach to child care. We are happy to tailor to parents’ needs and will do our up most best to accommodate work schedules.
We know and understand that developing and maintaining partnerships with parents is an important aspect of care that we provide for the children. We encourage parents to stay and chat to us daily about their child's day and their development.
We also use daily take home books and display “look what we have been doing today!” boards around the nursery. We have a monthly newsletter and send weekly updates so that all parents are well informed about their child and nursery projects etc. We also hold regular parent mornings and invite parents to drop by and spend the morning with us to chat about their child.
Fully Inclusive Setting
The nursery is a fully inclusive setting and available places are offered to all children. We work closely with outside agencies and other settings, sharing information and support for individual children. We have a trained member of staff supporting children with special educational needs.
Everyone Is Valued
At The Honey Pot Day Nursery, everyone is treated fairly and with respect. The staff lead by example and get down to the children's level when talking to them and always create a positive environment.
As part of our practice we are always calm and consistent. We encourage children to be kind to one another and respect each other's feelings and wishes. We always praise children and display their achievements on the achievements board. Everyone is valued and we ensure that all children have a sense of belonging at The Honey Pot Day Nursery.
Safe Environment
Children's safety is paramount to us and we have stringent health and safety policies and procedures in place which enable us to care for the children in a safe, secure, clean and loving environment. All staff are trained in safe guarding and child protection issues and all have had relevant enhanced disclosure barring checks carried out.
Monthly Newsletter & Updates
We like to keep our parents well informed and produce a monthly newsletter as well as weekly updates that we email each week with the menu.
